Homeish, On the Road, Seen on the Road,  Tomorrow

Homish

The Colonel, who is certainly the grumpy, sour old man you imagine him to be, is also just a bit of a romantic; and certainly a chauvinist.  California is the place.  The ocean smells right.  (Yes, we put our hands in the Pacific.)  The ice plant is where it belongs on the dunes.

If we are not home, we are certainly betting there.

There are Bougainvillea

Bird of Paradise

And flowering succulents.

On the Road

Highway 1 between San Diego and Santa Ana is only 78 miles according to the map.  We managed to take 5 hours for the trip and go half again that far.  The beach cities and the  beaches themselves were comfortably full of people having fun.   It appears that a lot of fun is had in California.

If you expand this picture you might notice that the water under the cloud cover is grayish, the water under clear sky is beautiful blue.

Part of the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton.  This is a long stretch of undeveloped coast.

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, now closed.

In Dana Point (named for Richard Henry, of course) they have Lantern Streets; Blue, Golden, Copper, Amber and Silver.  Apparently no Green Lantern.  Missing a bet.

Laguna Beach still does the Pageant of the Masters; people pretending to be two dimensional.

This is how beaches are supposed to look.  Sorry Atlantic coast people, but there it is.

Seen on the Road

A pair of soulful looks.  That guy on the left apparently has a muzzle.

Above and below; true believers put the bumper stickers on the paint.

Tomorrow

We will pick up the Mrs. Colonel at John Wayne airport tomorrow morning and loose ourselves in LA.

Wellington Boot, Col.
