Not a Rainy Night, Seen on the Road, Tomorrow.

Florida is a memory, Georgia now underfoot.  It is night and it is not raining.  Tonight's stop is Valdosta Georgia, just north of the Florida boarder.  It may be imagination, but the ground seems to dry out a bit as one goes north.  There is more open land, even some folks running cattle.  Still no hills worth the name, although there are some pretty fair hills further north.

[Question -- what is the highest point in Florida?  Answer: 345 feet somewhere in the Florida panhandle up against Alabama.  The mean elevation of the state is 100'.  Florida awaits only the sufficiently super, super Hurricane which will solve all its problems permanently.]

Seen on the Road

Cracker can be a pejorative, in this case for white Georgians (typically so in the mouths of black Georgians,) but like many such words it is also taken as a badge by those at whom it is directed.  What makes these log home "Cracker Style" must remain a mystery; there was no one in the sales office to ask.  The images on line have no coherent architectural style and apparently mean "old timey."

Occasionally in Northern California one will see a billboard with a religious message.  Here they are not uncommon.  They typically carry either of two messages:

Oppose abortion rights.  These are in the majority.

Read your bible and go to church.

Tomorrow

North to Columbus, Georgia and west to Montgomery Alabama to see where that bus at the Ford museum came from.
